I still have my first one but which box it is in would be anyone's guess. My grandfather kept it in his tackle box. It was made from plywood with strips of inner tube secured with what looked like sinew. The pouch appeared to be a portion of old boot leather.

When he passed away, my grandmother gave me his tackle box (which I still have 30 years later). The only things I took out to use were this old fillet knife and the sling shot.

The first time I ever put a pebble in the slingshot and drew it back, one of the bands snapped and I was slapped in the face. Several weeks later I found myself replacing the tube in one of my bike tires so I got my father to help me replace the bands with some newer rubber.

About my third shot, somewhere near mid draw the fork on the left snapped off. It's been in a box ever since.

Now I wanna find it and copy it just to build it like he did.... I smell a project brewing....

It really is something I want to make. I remember very clearly breaking the old brittle piece of wood. It hurt my feelings to know I'd destroyed something of his. I was ashamed or something. I feel like its kind of honoring him to build a new copy of his.

It was very oddly shaped and not very ergonomic to hold honestly. My grandfather had much more massive hands than I do even now. The body was a peice of about 5/8" plywood shaped almost in a V and the portion near the base of the forks was about 4" wide. I'm not 100% sure how it was meant to be held but maybe ill figure that out when I do it.

I recently discovered that the simplest slingshots are the best for shooting in general( my opinion, of course).
