Hi,<br>I started a new project today.<br>In our company we bought new multiplex plates for our workbenchs.<br>The old ones made of 50mm beech wood I could get for free.<br><br>I want to build a snaredrum (stave shell) out of it.<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13562594xi.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>In front the old plate and behind a planed and straight cutted board.
Hi,<br>the boards are cutted and planed.<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644280ou.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644281lz.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br><br>Cutted them into trapezoid staves.<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644277ii.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644279sx.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>They were glued together like a cask is made. (casks are not glued)<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644282os.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>Looks good so far. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png" alt="cheers" longdesc="28"><br>On two joints there is no glue, so that I can cut both halfcircles on the bandsaw.<br>So I will get a 14" and a 12" snaredrum. <br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644283fk.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13644278bw.jpg" border="0" alt="">

Very nice to see, you knows how to work with wood... <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png" alt="cheers" longdesc="28"><br><br>but you know, that this snaredrum is going to be very heavy... of course you know it, you've glued the pieces together... <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif" alt="Laughing" longdesc="7"><br><br>now you made me curious about what comes next, that is not fair <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_scratch.png" alt="scratch" longdesc="33">
<img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png" alt="Very Happy" longdesc="1"> thank you.<br><br>After the glue was dry, I started rounding the outside of the shell.<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13683229il.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>I made a jig to turn the shell over the routertable, works good so far.<br><br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13683230ld.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>After some sanding with 60 to 240 paper it was a really fine surface.<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13683231wc.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>Next step will be to use the outside as a guidline and to route the inside with this jig.<br><br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/13683232hs.jpg" border="0" alt="">
