My son likes the film 'Gladiator' - so I'm making him a sword for Christmas!
I'm going to add contrasting scales - to the handle, blade and hilt guards. Then style/shape it up... I might 'guild' the blade with silver over varnish as well
Very cool. Great movie. That will be a very nice gift for your son. Maybe some day he can avenge you with it. I don't know what he may need to avenge you for, but if you have a cool sword, you've got to have a mission of vengeance, it's just part of the story
You kill my father, prepare to die! Best part of that movie, and there's a lot of good parts.
Wish my parent made me one when I was little, but then I'd probably use it to beat the crap outta my little brother. I wish they'd at least let me watch Gladiator, but that woulda given me ideas about how to beat the scrap outta my lil bro, oh well.... also Gladiator is one of the most historically inaccurate movies ever made... which is probably what makes it good
- they should re-make Spartacus.... 'I'm Spartacus' - 'No, I'm Spartacus!'
Nice! Can't wait to see the final result!
I wish I could have one of this when I was a kid....
great idea! i did something similar for myself when i was young, i've had great fun with that!
Roman numerals = my sons birthday
next year make him a roman style shield
Super nice! Great work!
Maybe a leather-wrap on the handle?
Nice to see it completed. Nice work!
