Wooden question

    I got a nice piece of wood for free.<br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=23&u=17793509" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/17/79/35/09/11112010.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br>In Germany it´s called "Leimholz".<br>It´s glued beech.Is it useful for making a ss?<br>Or isn´t it strong enough?

    it would surely do the job for constructions like jörgs big cannon by cutting it lenghtwise with the grain. for "normal" slingshots i would not use it until i made a "rope test". multiple layers with changing grain directions like multiplex are much better.

    I would make a limate out of this with lets say a 9mm multiplex core

    Hi,<br>ich antworte mal auf deutsch.<br><br>Der Vorteil von Multiplex ist ja der, dass die Holzfasern immer abwechselnd längs und quer verleimt werden.<br>Dadurch wird das Reißen des Holzes in Faserrichtung verhindert, da es keine Faserrichtung mehr gibt.<br>Diesen Vorteil gibts beim Leimholz leider nicht, da weiterin die Holzfasern parallel verlaufen.<br><br>Ich rate von solchen Konstruktionen (und auch von Schleudern die aus Brettern ausgesägt werden) dringend ab.<br><br>Hier zur Verdeutlichung.<br><br><img src="http://up.picr.de/12459399cv.jpg" border="0" alt="">

    ich benutze die bretter schon eine ganze weile, auch ohne multiplex kern, bis jetzt ist noch keine gebrochen.
