There is a big differance between copy something and get inspired. You' re right pjturchen, he is a little bit too agressif for such a young boy.
@theslingshotboy: All we do in our life is inspired from our parents, brothers, sisters, teachers, movies, books, internet and so on...

Many people 'copied' Joerg's Moorhammer. I think he is not mad about it.

These starship slingshots exist since many many years. The saunders is just a Evolution if it. What you Call a copy looks more like the original ones. So you could blame saunders for copying them.

    Failureisalwaysanoption is absolutely right.

theslingshotboy, do you really think a wristbrace and extended fork were invented by Saunders Archery in 2009? )

Look, for example, at this "Nightstalker" slingshot from 1980's:
If there were serial "spaceships" in 80's, selfmade ones must born in 70's.

Wrist Rocket Pro is a good attemp to make a EDC spaceship, patented in 2009.
Yes, it's definitely interesting slingshot, but its main feature is a glove-like folding, and it is just a mass product.

And Jack Koehler's King Cat (on yours secondary photo) has absolutely different construction and destination. It is precision slingshot for tournaments, analog of target pistol. It has adjustable wristbrace, adjustable ironsight and, of course, can not be folded.

Site of Jack Koehler: supershooting dot com slash Slingintro.html (because I am new here, I cannot post a link properly)

that seems Kinda childish an lame. Thats like someone telling you not to make a sandwich because its someone elses idea. An if you dont like it dont look at it. You know when a person changes one thing in a pantened idea its not coping cause its there own an i dont see were theres an exact replaca of it in the other picture.

The copycat issue was hotly debated on the SSF a while ago.

My point is that it is possible to protect inventions, with patents and the likes. If a designer decides to not do that, his design is fair game for the competition.

For private, non commercial usage, it is legal to copy even fully patended inventions.

Therefore this is a non issue for me. Slingshots are very simple objects, and I don't think that I want to judge a hand made product based on "copycat" issues.

Commercial copying is an issue that is best dealt with in court, not on a forum.
