I usually do this without target, just fixing a spot over the backstop and watching the placement, I've put a soda can top to attest the hit sound, of course there are references to aim at, but light and contrast changes a bit from shooting position, I help myself with the "virtual spot", which is in my case to "overlap" in my mind a know target, a bottle cap LOL !
this sample is very noisy, workers in front of my house

    less noisy samples

    and the third shoot

    good training for accuracy

because shooting a not "well defined" target maybe confusing on where focus your attention, the virtual spot helps doing so ...

Mr. Arturo, this is my next technique to try, I've been doing a little peripheral aiming and its going well. Thanks for the tips.

Hello BV, looks more impressive than really is, is almost the same as with a conventional target (with practice LOL), it is more an exercise to practice shoot placement, I use it during warm up choosing different points over the backstop before starting with the real targets ... and it saves cans LOL !

Great shooting Arturo. While I don't yet have a PFS to shoot with, I was trying some more 'instinctive' shooting today - drawing back and releasing almost as soon as the draw is complete, both eyes open. Shooting firearms, I find it hard to get past the type of shooting I do with them - line up the shot with the sights, one eye closed, proper stance, proper breathing, slowly pull the trigger. But trying to apply that to slingshots, I am not having as much luck. As I watch shooting like this, I've been trying to learn the instinctive style. You make it look so easy, but I know that's come with plenty of practice. I did manage to hit my target several times during that practice. I guess it's more practice followed by more practice.

right, with the practice all your body will learn to do it automatic, it's repeated feedback, then just watching your target you will know that the shoot will be very close before the release and you will notice you will start hitting more and more frequently, shooting without target and watching placement and try repeating same spot is an excellent exercise ...
