I was browsing the galleries of the Slingshot Forum looking for some inspiration when I stumbled upon Mark22c's Bull, which is a fully stippled, hammergrip frame. <br><br><img src="http://slingshotforum.com/uploads/gallery/album_136/gallery_2296_136_6177.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br>Shown here, next to his more current model with a slap protector. <br><br>I took a liking to this idea of creating a nice thick grip from a couple sheets of plywood and then gluing in a fork to complete the package. So I figured, why not try the same design to start off? <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=32&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0717.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br>I made this from two 3/4'' boards of plywood glued together to form the grip, with a fork cut from 3/4" thick plywood which is then glued into a slot. <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=33&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0718.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br>While it's not the lowest fork possible, it could be, by simply gluing in a lower fork, or even using a plate of metal in the style of a hammerhead flat fork. <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=34&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0719.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br>The only downside is the ugly glue seam from the fork. This could be covered with thin wood, or covered with paint. The later was my next choice. <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=35&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0720.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br>Since we all know Zombies will be massing violently in the future, I thought to incorporate that theme into the paint job for a second frame. This involved painting the frame white, distressing with sandpaper, painting red, painting black, wearing through paint layers with a buffer, rubbing with black ink, and touching up with brushed on red paint. <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=36&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0721.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br>Shooting view.<br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=37&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0722.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br>The band slap protector/ Face Smasher.<br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=38&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0723.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br>This paint job is tedious, and I'll not be doing it again haha.<br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=39&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/imag0724.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br>Both of them together. <br><br>I've had a lot of success target shooting with the unpainted one. I'm not so accurate, but I was at least grouping within a foot at 20 yards. <br><br>Maybe next I'll finish the Cutlass I'm working on and then move on to a different iteration of one of these. Perhaps a more sculptural form. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_idea.png" alt="Idea" longdesc="18">

I cant see the pic from the other forum tho, but yours is amazing. I liked it more b4 paint to be true, but the paint job is stellar as well. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png" alt="Very Happy" longdesc="1"><br><br>Hats off to you man this is a production line right here brother!

Ryan, I prefer the unpainted one as well. I may try my hand at making a welded steel fork with wood tips and using steel plate for the slap guard. I'll also look for a solid piece of wood to cut this from. The plywood I'm using looks fine, but just doesn't sand very well. I have enough for one more, maybe I'll experiment with metal additions.

WHOA, this is a VERY nice slingshot, I like the blood effect on the painted slingshot too. If you don't mind, I'll probably save those pics as reference to a future slingshot of mine.<br><br>P.S, The fork looks very much like a bunny, but the handle looks like a HAMMER!! Maybe you can call it "The Hammer-Jack"?

Thanks guys. To date, these are my most accurate slingshots. Granted, that could be from just having more practice overall. It's hard to judge. <br><br>E_Monster55, I didn't even see that until you pointed it out. I do like that name better. <br><br>Ryan, I've sort of put that on the far back burner. I'm focusing a lot on a guitar project that will require a lot of care. I can put up a pattern for this though. No trouble. <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=40&u=17228318" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i42.servimg.com/u/f42/17/22/83/18/slings11.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br>No set size since everyone has different hands.

Thanks, I was able to see the picture you posted on google images, these forks are pretty wide, what are the width and height measurements?

For the total width, it's 4.5". Height from the bottom of the piece to the top of the forks is 2 3/8". <br><br>Really the important thing is that the width of the block at the fork bottom is the same as the thickness of the grip so that they join flush.
