    I cut this a while back and let it dry really well and then magic happened <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif" alt="Laughing" longdesc="7"><br>It is really beautiful wood but i cant identify what type it is.<br>I would be grateful for any knowledge on the mater.     Looks like oak, but the bark does not fit. <br><br>Love the shine!

    nice, indeed the wood looks like oak but the bark <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_scratch.png" alt="scratch" longdesc="33">

    My first thought was some kind of oak but not even the leafs match that wood type. They are small, oval with a bit of a point.<br>When i go for more Y gathering ill take a photograph of the howl tree and leafs.

    Thank you joerg for your help!!! I can see the similarities in the wood. But the leafs are no were near the same, i wish i had taken a photo of them at the time. I have another 2 Y from the same tree, i really like this kind because they are very well formed, easy to work with and as the title says strong.

    Real nice looking slingshot! Love the shine! my natural that i started a few days ago caught fire when i was trying to dry it in the microwave, it was only in there for a minute! it was a real nice fork too. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_sad.gif" alt="Sad" longdesc="3">
