This slingshot was made from Hairy Oak (an Australian hardwood) [IMG]
I really like the orange wood with the black stripes on it, and i thought it looked a bit like a tiger, hence the name.

I inserted steel forks into a hole in the top of the wood and filled it with epoxy. Finished it with polyurethane (Nice and shiny) and banded up with double theraband gold.
Hope you like it, any questions, just ask.

Hi there. Where can I get hairy oak from? Is from over east only? Never heard of it in WA. Swap you a nice fork or two for a little slab if you have any.

Like Haze I've never heard of mossy oak either, the colour is fantastic.

That's a really nice shooter there!

KW, thats very nice. the hairy oak is beautifull, I've seen the tree on tv but had no clue what was under that shaggy bark.
the steel fork looks very stout, and it looks great with the tiger stripe grain pattern.

That's a nice piece of work. Hairy oak - never heard of it, very unique. So here is my question - the steel fork - did you make that yourself? If so what did you use and how did you make it?

Yes i made it myself. i just got piece of steel rod, bent it in the vice with a pipe and a hammer, welded a bolt onto the bottom of the bend, filed and sanded it and it was ready to be inserted into the handle.
