Made another slingshot over the course of the last few days.<br><br>It took that long because this may be the most work and material intensive Hammer Howitzer variation I ever came up with. <br><br><br><div style="margin:auto;text-align:center;width:100%"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vbDL7OMiaZ8/UDDS6brCZrI/AAAAAAAACDA/SE0e_Tpcg6Q/s1600/Snailhouse3.JPG" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vbDL7OMiaZ8/UDDS6brCZrI/AAAAAAAACDA/SE0e_Tpcg6Q/s400/Snailhouse3.JPG" border="0" alt=""></a></div>It may not look like a Hammer Howitzer, but it is...<br><br><br><div style="margin:auto;text-align:center;width:100%"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SIYcqDiDuEM/UDDTKsqnLmI/AAAAAAAACDI/0h_Botgxgw4/s1600/Snailhouse4.JPG" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SIYcqDiDuEM/UDDTKsqnLmI/AAAAAAAACDI/0h_Botgxgw4/s400/Snailhouse4.JPG" border="0" alt=""></a></div>
<br>It actually is a fully encapsulated "safety" slingshot, made from a total of 8 layers of Multiplex (birch plywood). Each plywood layer cosists of 13 layers of wood, which means this slingshot is made from 104 layers of wood. It looks like a mixture of a sculpture and a piece of pottery!<br><br><br><div style="margin:auto;text-align:center;width:100%"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--zSswt0Fza4/UDDTxFQN4pI/AAAAAAAACDQ/y6yw4kDsxrs/s1600/Snailhouse2.JPG" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--zSswt0Fza4/UDDTxFQN4pI/AAAAAAAACDQ/y6yw4kDsxrs/s400/Snailhouse2.JPG" border="0" alt=""></a></div>The whole thing is laquered with yacht polyurethane (three layers), which makes it watertight and very shiny. Even though it offers total protection from handhits and band slaps, the motion of the hand is not hindered at all. <br><br><br><div style="margin:auto;text-align:center;width:100%">

<br>This was a lot of work and sawdust galore, but I think it was worth it. One of my favorites.

Fist of Doom!<br><br>Hell, that REALLY looks like a lot of work!<br>Very beautiful, i also think it looks like a piece of art/sculpture.<br><br>Did you sand and paind the front part of the hammergrip before you laminated the front or did you try to carve it out of the full material?

<span class="postbody"><br><br>I laminated the first three layers and carved out the hammergrip. Finished it before I added the other five layers. <br><br>Then I used various tools to remove the "staircases". Lots of work until it was smooth!</span>

I love this design, must feel very safe and sturdy to use it. I wonder how much it would hurt to punch someone with that? xD

Nice work! id like to make a slingshot like that, but its allot of wood, work, and time, ill probably make a slingshot like that bird cage design you made a while ago. No hand slaps!!!!!!!!
