time ago a "Picohio" stick from the deep Andes came to my hands, I couldn't send to Kevin as was forbidden by customs, today I decided to give it a try with my limited tools. This wood is fully impregnated with natural resin "amber" and is extremely strong and hard, here is what is coming out ... cheers

thanks friends, I was doubtful to start afraid of spoiling the stick, I used only the sanding disk tool and my other hand holding the stick to make the shape, was a risky and delicate operation lol ! ... the Picohio is the "heart" of the branches of the "Araucaria" or "Pehuen" tree (found in south Andes, good news for BV also Brazil !! and New Zealand) died and as it is saturated of "amber" resin these sticks survives decay intact. This tree grows very slowly and this Picohio comes from a 1000+ years tree, it is extremely strong, hard and dense (sinks in water). The grain is due to the spines that grows all over it's surface to protect them in the past from dinosaur herbivores, was part of the Jurassic flora lol !

thanks Saderath, my first natural ! lol ... the camera macro does only 30 cm, unfortunately exports of this wood are banned, they are relics of Mesozoic forest's era ...

sorry Saderath, here is the "end grain" ... a porous centred vein surrounded of "amber wood" layers, very strong and hard, it's only sanded and polished, no oil or varnish lol ! as it is !
