I finished this slingshot today. I welded and forged the steel frame in school, but I made the handle and did the sanding at home. The slingshot is obviously made with a steel frame, and the handle is antler from a moose. I know what you gonna say, that it should use tubes, but I found out that flatbands work out just as well. I call it the "Norseman" (another word for "Viking") because I think it looks kinda nordic and rustic.

The shooters view:

I had to sand it quite a long time to get it to this shine!

As a bonus:

Ive been saving all my soda cans in this box, so I can make a big can destruction party when the weather gets better(half a year from now!).

Also, the first snow came today. Well, that one looks like a great shooter. Must have a lot of power. I see nothing wrong using bands instead of tubes. I think bands can deliver a lot more power than tubes. Very, very, nice work mate, keep going.
Thanks alot for the kind words!

mikehunt: Actually I planned to use a brass handle at first(like in the video) but I found some antler and decided to use that instead!

tokSick: I will add stronger bands later, these are just weak targetbands for training.
Nice SS! I like to see the metal ones for sure! If I may suggest, as you mentioned the work involve in sanding your metal rod to a nice shine, a method I use. If you have an electric or cordless drill at home with decent power and it has a 3/8" or 1/2" chuck use it. Chuck up the rod and use sand paper, start coarse and go finer, to sand the metal. Use a small-ish piece of paper(1"x2-3") and fold it in half so the grit is facing out. This allows good grip with your fingers. Pinch the paper around the rod lightly and pull the trigger. Once the drill gets up to speed, you can squeeze harder to remove material faster. Set the drill rotation to spin away from you. This is more effective for squeezing the sand paper. You can use the trigger lock once you get some practice, but to start just us your finger. That way if you have to toss the drill or it slips the trigger isn't stuck on. Keep loose clothing away from anything rotating and don't, yes, I'm staying DON"T, wear gloves. They give a rotating work piece something to grab and twist, potentially sucking in your finger, hand or more into the rotating work piece or tool. No gloves! Blisters or cuts are better than broken bone or torn off appendages. M'kay!
You can achieve a nice mirror finish this way and it much faster and less work that doing it manually. Ideally, you could use a drill press or have the hand drill mounted in a fixture or even a bench vise. This frees up two hands. But adds to the risk.
Again, be careful and work smart.
I have a 4 prong section of antler I was tempted to turn into a pair of slingshots but my girlfriend wants me to make knives and use the antler for the handles so no dice
