After seeing some recent catapults made from plastic pipe I decided to have a go at making one out of plastic myself.

I bought a 200mm x 100mm piece of 10mm thick HDPE plastic and decided to use a recent design of mine as the frame.

Firstly I marked out the outline and started cutting with the jigsaw.

Then one cut I started so sand and car e the rough plastic away.

Final shaping was completed using a knife and dremmel

I then fitted it with double tapered TBG.

I then weighed it to check it was lightweight at in total with bands it's 75g

I shoot this support style and TTF. It has nice power as the video shows.

I've been thinking about working with plastics too! But can't find a good and thick piece like yours!
Great finishing! Is it easyer than wood?

On the other forum there is a thread about making HDPE from recycled type 2 jugs and lids. It's not that hard and there have been some good results.

How about cutting board for kitchen use? Its usualy about 30x20x1(cm) an it costs about 10€... Its made for cutting food so i guess it has to be quite strong...

Yes cutting boards are made from the same material as this. I just bought my piece off eBay and it was just the right size with kingmaker waste but you can using cutting boards if you want.

Thats really cool, i like how u used a knife to make it smooth. Is that similar to plastic chopping board . U can also use it to make longboarding gloves from it.

Yes the plastic is the same as used in food grade cutting boards. I took this out roving last night and I am very impressed with its strength and how light it is to carry.

I have ordered some more plastic to make another frame type next.
