I found the most perfect natural fork ever!!!!!

Perfect thickness, perfectly even fork and wide and low.
All i did was remove the bark, sand, laminate a nice leaf into the handle (random idea) and the give it a good polly coating.

And it was already completely dried from laying on the forest floor for probabl a few months.

    :D

I completely agree with Joerg, that leaf idea is just ingenious! When I first saw the picture there was this WOW-effect, if you know what I mean. :)
    Keep it up!

Absolutely beautiful - I love the leaf. What process did you use to laminate it? Did you glue it down first, then coat it with a clear lacquer varnish?

How well does the poly coating protect the leaf? Great looking fork, excellent idea for the decoration.

Hi guys and thanks a bunch for the awesome feedback.
It is the first time trying the leaf laminate, as i just saw that bright red and orange leaf laying on the ground in the forest and thought, hmmmmmm i think i know where that leaf should be, and tried it out and it finished up quite nice.

I first sanded the fork ready for varnishing, then after leaving the leaf under a pile of heavy books for a couple of days, smothered the back side of the leaf with normal wood glue (try not to get glue on the front of the leaf, cause when it dries it goes all a bit flakie and white). when its on the fork i wrapped it with cling wrap (for sandwiches and so on) then wraped it tightly with tyre tube. this is important i think, because if you dont want the leaf to move around or have air bubbles under the poly, it needs to be completely flat!!!!!!!
yeah, then just do a number of layers till i looks nice and shiny.

feel free to try it out!!!

oh, and i also have in mind that the leaf could end up just brown... after a few weeks or months. But because it is sealed it might not (i once put a few maple leave from autumn in a picture frame and a year later some of them are still pretty red).

thanks again for the coments and good luck if you give it a go!!! :D
