    My grandpa just gave me 6 blades, razor sharp! And some curly birch and some other wood! He just said: it's better that you get to enjoy some knife-making instead of them just laying in my cupboard!
    So expect something more from my end!

    This close up below is on the wood we didn't recognise, anyone here knows what it is?

    What a score! No idea on the wood but it will look fantastic once shaped and finished out!

    Nice! I think the 'unknown' wood is called masurbjörk in Sweden.

    Masurbjörk is curly birch.. The other wood the longer one is the one i mean!

    The 'unknown' wood is maple burlwood, as mentioned by Buckshot500. It is also sometimes called, 'Tiger maple' or 'bird's eye' maple, depending upon whether the original log was quarter or half sawn.

    Great set of blades. :cool: Are there any markings on the really wide one (second from right)?

    The wide blade is now sat on a handle wich i just carved a shooter with! And there were no scratches or anything on the blade just fingermarks!
