Hey guys! After a month of intense planning, I've come up with the blueprint for my newest project. It is the second to my collection of "Hunters", namely the Mark 2. My previous creation was a PVC crossbow- the Mark 1. The new one has a very simply design......rollers to achieve a draw lench of 32 inches (approx. 90cm), Jörg's slotted hook trigger lock, a stirrup for cocking and 5 bands (tb gold) on either side of the fork. It shoots 25 inch arrows, althought it can accept 30 inch arrows also. Paintjob? Silver base + dark silver carbon fiber vinyl. I'll be uploading the pics of the blueprint soon!

All credits go to Jörg for he provided me with the inspiration as well as several designs to incorporate.

CEZ, the Mark 1 was basically a crossbow that uses a PVC bow to store energy instead of Theraband. I didn't like the overall performance as it wasn't powerful enough. At the same time, it wasn't compact due to the width of the bow (80cm!). So I gave it to my nephew. He liked it anyway The Scarecrow will hopefully be upto 4 times more powerful than the Mark 1.

This one will be awesome when finished!

You could make the trigger a single-piece hook trigger like on, for example, Joergs knife shooter. I cant see why this should be any better than the two-piece trigger you use know, but I just wanted to say.

Fantastic idea and drawing. Can' t wait to see it finished and in action. This one, if you don' t like it, don' t give it to your nephew. He already got one and you said he is pretty pleased with it. I know someone who would be happy to have it, his name begin with a "t" then "okSic" in the middle and it ends with a "k".

Cool, can't wait to see it done!
Btw. use 3-4 long strips per side and fold them half-way, that's much easier to just pull through the crossbow string(with loops) than tying 5 layers down. does that make sense?
Cheers

Thank you everybody for your support.
I was wondering though....how much can theraband gold stretch? You see, the bands in this design are already pre-stretched and I doubt whether it will stretch to 29 inches....the bands are 10 inches long. Help please?

A few more updates: The Scarecrow can be dismantled into 4 pieces for transport.
The trigger system is the same as the one found in Jörg's dual arrow shooter and uses a small length of rope inside. (I hope that answered Failureisalwaysanoption's question)

and tokSick.. maybe after a few years when I design something new.

and CEZ, I shall consider that. thank you.

Theraband Gold can stretch to 5,5 times its relaxed length. 10 inches should be able to stretch to 55 inches if stretched to its maximum. (I think it can be stretched even more actually, but 5,5 is the most you can draw without dramatically increase the drawweight, I think.)

    No problem mate!

You could do like this and then you dont have to use any string (That may break and cause problems):

Hmm...you got a point there. Well, I'll make some modifications then. Thanks again! Frankly, it didn't strike my mind that there are chances for the rope to break.
