To get into the theme, I decided to jump into cold water and make one from multiplex. So I bought two cheap round necklace watches that looked kind of steampunkish and designed a frame.

The back side of those watches are showing some of the parts, which is neat.

I sawed out fake sprockets and spray painted those silver, then glued them on. Sawed out the fork and rounded the arms so they look like copper tubes. Spray painted everything with bronze spray.

The left side plate can be removed for servicing the watches.
I will probably add some more details and also polycoat the whole thing, but for a first steampunk themed frame I am pleased with it.

That's really cool! A slingshot with a built-in 'Chrony'! A great first frame, I can't wait to see how your designs evolve from here.

Really cool, the fact the watches are working and serviceable is a nice little bonus :)

The negative space between the gear teeth look like some bizarre, futuristic, world domination symbol. Intensional??? I'm impressed as usual!

It is currently in the polycoating process, which will take the usual three, four days due to the drying process. But don't expect anything spectactular.

I made it mostly to learn about silver and bronze paint, as I feel those are a necessary part of many steampunk slingshot projects. It will be interesting to see how the paint looks like under four coats of polyurethane.

They certainly do. Quartz watches, and I can easily service them by removing the left side plate!

Very nice! I think some 'wheatering' would look nice (i.e. using different techiques like spray paint, sandpaper or coffee to make things look old and/or used a lot) as it is now it lloks too new to me :)

Would it be possible to substitute brass straight slotted screws for the more modern Phillips head type you used? Hope you don't think I'm being picky, I think it's a very clever piece!

    Hi Jörg,
I mostly like your slingshots very much.
Some of them are real artwork and fantastic craftmenship.
But here I can not find the spirt of steam punk.
I am missing the "dust" and "rust".
Maybe it is just a little too "perfect".
I am working on a steam punk slingshot also.
It will be a combination of rusty metal with leather and brass.
So I rise to the challenge ;)
Please don`t be sad about my critism most of the members like this baby.
