OK, so after breaking my first ever homemade slingshot with a fork hit by a marble, I went back out hunting for some natural forks, and ended up with the following...

The first is a fairly traditional, basic slingshot, albeit perhaps a bit wide. I put a small leather lace wrap on the handle for better grip. The bands attach using a technique (link) I picked up from Charles @ slingshotforum.com, which is similar to a Z-type attachment where first a hole is punched in the end of the band, then it is drawn through a hole in the fork and wrapped over the top around the fork using the hole in the band. The band then can wrap over the top or sides of the fork. I'm shooting it with the bands wrapping inside the fork.

The second is a PFS, which I'm still getting the hang of. No fork hits,
but it tends to slap my hand quite a bit -- more so with 8mm steel balls
than marbles. The bands are single theraband gold.

That's good (that it's wider), interesting way of wrapping the bands. Can you show where you got it from?
That's a really big pouch for that picklefork, do you think it's useful for 8mm balls? I'd use a smaller one, they're suppose to be faster because of less air resistance. Also bigger ammo and wrist flicking prevent handslaps.

Cheers

Probably is too big a pouch. I ordered the whole bandset, with the pouch. I think I'll yank that one off the PFS and make up a lighter bandset with smaller pouch, both for 6-8mm steel, for target plinking.

cool! I think that it would be great with pellet ammos 4,5 and 5,5!
