i wonder if the shells would too early, too late or never open ...

the idea is that the air resistance will pull the end of the cord after the ball is leaving the pouch/fork.

maybe i can adjust the spread depending on how often i wrap the cord around the ball?

The little brush at the end gives it an... ahem... burlesque touch

I think the air resistance would be fairly low. But you could attach the string to the muzzle of the crossbow!

that's what i also assumed. but since the ball is round it barely would hold the cord on longer distance i think. depends on what the laws of physics will cause inside the ball. if the weight of the load will push too hard to the wall and prevent the cord from unravelling ... ?

then i'm afraid that it will not shoot very accurate and the load will spread out too much and too early by remembering dangerous pouches and the watermelon girl.

i just want to transport pebbles or leadshot without being affected by the outer shells too much. it should open in the most possible "natural" movement. it should be a solution for a handheld slingshot. on crossbows there is the possibility of a fixed sabot like you showed on yours.

    Nice sketch!
I would go for a shell with several pieces, not just split in half... Otherwise the front lid might be in the way of the bullets?

Not to be a party pooper, but I think you'll have a tough time getting a ping pong ball to hold together, in addition to getting it to open and release the contents in anyway meaningful.
.....fut if we're just having fun coffee talk, never-mind.......carry on
