i broke by axe handle over the weekend and the handle is a lovely hickory and too nice to throw away, so i was wondering has anyone made a straight shaft slingshot?
and if so what is the best way to attach bands?

poor thing the handle is almost 20 years old and it split at the collar have to chase down another good handle now not easy to get good hickory handles here in australia im afraid.

I suggest cutting it into even pieces and tite-bond them together to form a board. Then cut out a slingshot shape the same way you would with plywood.

A stickshoot is by far the easiest alternative. You could shape the handle "Moorhammer-style"!
