New guy here - maybe this was addressed a long time ago. Do the band formulas hold true when used on a stick sling? What are the relationships between power and effectiveness between a conventional sling and a "mono" sling for lack of a better term?

A stick sling (I call them stickshots) with monobands essentially use the same band dimensions, but the loop for the pouch must be deducted from the draw length as it does not stretch.

The power is comparable, as the straighter vector compensates the loss in draw length.

Of course you can make a hammer grip PFS (see my version here: http://slingshotchannel.blogspot.com/2011/12/hammer-grip-pfs.html )

The PFS is shot like a stickshot, but does not need a pouch loop.

I like the looks of the picklefork design. I pounded one out on the forge yesterday. Just need to find some bands and start learning!

The Walmart bands I picked up don't seem to have the stretch of what the formulas say should happen. Off to find some Theraband Gold!

The PFS is sitting on one of my toad stickers forged from 5160, clay heat treated, rayskin & cordwrap.
