Stick shot

  1. I shot myself in the hand like 5 times, probably should have learned to shoot OTT before i tried one of those lol. I'll post a pic of it here in a bit, it was just a side project while I worked on my main shooter. (I deffinatly should have had it finished by now, sorry for the lack of a pic)

With pickle shooters, you can either angle the shot forward, and when shot, all you need is a slight flick of the rest and it will clear your hand and the shooter with plenty of space. Good luck

  3. Thank you for the tip, I actually figured it out after a couple decent wrist hits (Thankfully I haven't actually felt my hands in a few years), the problems I had was I made it for a friend much smaller hands than myslef so it was maybe half the size needed for my hand and the pouch was far too large. (I stopped hitting my hand when I made the pouch smaller and held the shooter lower so I'm guessing that was the problem anyway) I'm used to bows so slingshots are taking a little getting used to.

  4. Also as a side note, DO AS Jeorg says and wear gloves and such! I have a 2 inch lump on my right ring finger from hitting it with a 1/2 inch marble, if I could feel it I'm sure I would be in pain. Be careful or you'll be all gimpy like me lol.

(for example this is the least of my five hand hits tonight lol)

    Hi mikehunt,
I tryied the stickshot some time ago. I never hit my hand with it and i was not hiting the target very often. What i was good at was hiting the stickshot itself until it was completely destroyed.

I can speak only for my self. my experience is, every new ss needs more or less time to know the right positions for shooting. And when it hurts you will lose your patience very fast. What i will say is practice, practice , practice.

A stickshot can be dangerous if you do not master the flipping out technique with a conventional slingshot before ... I will not try a stickshot by now, maybe never ...

check out pfshooter (pickle fork shooter) on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/user/pfshooter/videos

he is recommending to turn the pouch at 90 degrees on stickshots or picklefork slingshots. it really works, but i cannot say why.

I really like shooting PFS more than a" normal" slingshot. I turn my pouch 90° everytime with all slingshots/PFS i use and never had a problem since my thumb hit. Anyway, the stickshot and me are no friend. I am facinated in how people can be deadly accurate with that thing, but i forgot the idea that i could be.

  11. I have no intention of giving up shooting the stick shot, I just plan to finish my slingshot before I go try again, and of course wear gloves this time lol.

you have to think of a different angle when shooting. do not assume if you shot with forks accurate, you can continue with a stickshot without changing your shooting position with same anchor point.

  13. I have been playing around with my stick shot yesterday and a little today and can hit a coffee pot box (I know it's fairly large I'm still learning to aim the little guy) from across my yard just about every time. No impressive grouping or anything but I haven't hit my hand again since you guys mentioned I should turn the pouch, thank you guys for that one!, and hopefully will be able to pelt cans with it. I'll post pictures of it later when they show up in my email along with the ones of my metal slingshot too.

I think i will buy some tubes next time. I never shot with tubes and i saw PFSshooter' s videos, he use tubes too and it looks like it is easier to reload than flatbands.
