Just want to ask how sparrow can be pests??? There where plenty of those little birds when i was young. Now because of cities, wild cats, polution, they tend to disappear here. I don' t see them so much now and i live near the fields.
" Grain-eating species, in particular the House and Sudan Golden Sparrows, can be significant agricultural pests. Sparrows can be beneficial to humans as well, especially by eating insect pests." ( from wiki)

     maybe you live in the fields, without too many houses around... these birds are thriving in cities and spreading diseases. also they love blocking drainage systems with their nests..... i checked the law and it was legal to kill em..... they are highly overpopulated where i live... hope i answered ur question mate..
cheers

    Like you said Rashid, there is not so much houses where i live. I just didn' t know they could be pest. I heard things about pigeons and squirrels. When i was young, a friend did lukewarm water in a bowl, some minutes after came a sparrow who took a bath in that water. He flew on a branch in a tree, a few seconds later he feld down, dead. It was winter... That same friend was catching pigeons with corn seeds soaked in wiskey, they couldn' t fly away because they were too drunk.
@pelleteer
I also was expecting a much larger pic but a much larger bird too .

     ya mate they can be pests...another problem is that they are aggressive and fight with native birds such as cardinals or goldfinches for nests and food...they also destroy their eggs.

    That bird got owned. You should hunt Starlings too as they tend to kill off any bird in the area, even going so far as to drive entire species from an area, I don't know if they're anywhere in your area though.
