For a simple Y-shaped SS just make sure it is strong enough.
Simple test: put it into a vice and pull back the fork arms
with your hands, if they hold it's fine, if they brake it is
far less painful than with rubber on it.

It's easy to start with a natural fork, or download a simple design
    from the blueprint-section.

    Hope it helps:)

Welcome to the Forum Vikingen94 :)
Unfortunately I'm not very experienced in Woodworking but a Bough Forked or Plywood should work, and I always fix a Spin on my new Slingshots and Pull as hard as I can if the Fork is strong enough.
Theraband you usually get in Sports stores, but in my case in Germany the Stores have usually not the Gold, You can buy that about E-bay.
For the Start you can try maybe one from Jörgs nice Turotials.

Birch makes really nice and sturdy naturals!

Good luck with your build :)
