OK so I have just got my first catapult that uses flat bands, and there pretty sweet its got double theraband gold, but I don't know the name of the style but its held with the support of your pointer finger and thumb, and I'm having troubles getting used to it because I usually use hammer grip, so i was just wondering if it was unusual. Thanks Peter

I would think its just a matter of getting used to it, but if I may ask, what kind of ammo are you using? something really heavy? If its not the big stuff that Joerg is firing, you will have better results with a single band rather than doubled. It would help you to get used to the feel as well because of less strain.

Hope I helped! I have yet to get a finger and thumb shooter yet, but I do seem to hold them with only a finger and thumb regularly lol, just not into the hammer grip , its ok, but just less accurate somehow for me.

You should be able to just remove one layer and reband it...

And yes, I highly recommend only a single layer for shooting marbles. I have had much better results that way And it will help you to get the feel for it much quicker and easier

Let us know how it goes

Yeah, one of the things you want to try and get right is the correct weight of bands to be type and size of ammo you're using.

Double theraband gold with a width of 1" per band and a moderate taper is really good for ammo like .44 caliber lead on up in weight. A single band in the same dimensions is usually good for 7/16" steel down to 5/16" steel in weight... and some decent size marbles.

Generally for marbles, a single band per side cut only 3/4" wide is more than enough.

Oh, and one other thing... theraband gold works pretty well when you draw it out enough. 4 - 5.5 times it's active length is a pretty good ratio.
