Odds are I use this one on the project. But before I do that I want to explore all my options. My question still remains how does Joerg's trigger work?

Thanks for the help.

Nolan, a rubber powered crossbow does not need fancy triggers, as the draw weight is so much lower. Efficiency comes from the long acceleration.

Here is a sketch of a trigger I employed in the weapon you mentioned, plus also in several others (including my new pump action crossbow):

No, this one can't shoot marbles. The string would not catch them.

Well, this seems to be a trigger/lock for arrows or bolts - you need the space so the arrow can be nocked into the string.
