Some time ago i talked to a mate at work.
He told me he had a "crow problem" in his backyard.
He is a hunter but of course he can´t shoot at crows with a rifle in his garden. So i told him what i´m doing in my free time

He
could not imagine what those Slingshots look like, since all he knew
were natural forks he shot in his youth with old bicycle tubes. So i
took a few of my latest ones with me to work to show him.

After a few looks all he said was: "I must have something like that...can you build me one?"

Of course i said "Yes". "But do something simple" he added. He has no experience in shooting and found the hammerforks very low.

Too "simple"
is not really my style. On top of that he is a very kind guy and a
little bit over 60 now. So in a few years he will retire. I wanted to do
something simple-but-special for him.

Since he wanted the fork a
little bit higher i cut out a six-circle frame. And he was afraid of
forkhits on noblewood so multiplex was the way to go.

As soon as those descisions were made i came up with the name: "The Simple-Six"

Because i did not want to keep it too
simple (like the aluminum-multiplex-tools i did for me) i had an idea:
Nearly all day he is working with a welding roboter and .8mm aluminum. So i collected two pieces of that aluminum. I wanted him to
remember his job and maybe me, when he uses the slingshot.
From the slingshots i showed him, Zebrano was the wood he liked the most so my final plan was:
5mm
Aluminiumcore - 6mm Multiplex each side - .8mm of his Aluminum each side
- Final layer of 6mm Multipley and a solid Zebrawood palmswell.

Sanded
it and applied three layers of oil over a few days. Waxed it to
really seal it (so he can use it outside even in the rain). Banded it up with a single layer of TBG since he will only annoy the Crows witch acorns.

Well...not my usual "model" for such a shooting...but good enough to show how waterproof "she" is.

Cheers AnTrAxX

nice, but only for design?
i think the leverage effect is too high, because you hold it 1-2cm too much down

you could do it more comfortable

but, very very nice

and good pics

hmm nice slingshot!
maybe needs some sanding and oiling
my Channel . . . . . Sorry, not sure what you mean.
The fork is higher than usual, because the shooter is not experienced enough to shoot a lower fork.

Also, it is probably only going to wear light bands for the gentleman and the higher forks really should not be an issue as far as I can see.
Oh Yeah. DA-YUM! That is a good lookin' shooter.
