I have been shooting quite a bit of crazy ammo these last four years. But there are still a few challenges left. One of these much asked for weapons is a slingshot crossbow that can shoot pointy, dangerous throwing knifes with force.

Now a throwing knife isn't very well suited for beeing fired from a crossbow. The bottom heavy knifes are supposed to spin around in the throw, which requires a ton of practice. But to be shot straight from a crossbow requires a specifically designed guiding system.

The simple, but effective weapon presented in this video uses four flat aluminum rods as guides for the knife, which works quite well. Three layers of Thera Band Gold drive the blades far faster than any human beeing could throw them - and with serious accuracy.

There is room for enhancements, especially the looks can be much improved. But for the 8 hours I spent on it so far, I am fairly pleased.

As a bonus, the second "Zodiac sign" prize slingshot is presented, made from two different types of wood, and featuring twin forks.

You could reduce the friction of the knife against the aluminum by using a low friction plastic as the guide rods. I'm a tad curious as to how the trigger actually works.

The trigger is just a hook, like the one on the sawbladeshooter, right? And the paracord-loop clicks into place when you draw it out long enough. I tought about this all night

Actually, that was once a temporary license plate for my truck ("Überführungskennzeichen"). It has survived many, many hits by now.

@Failureisalwaysanoption: Yes, it is just a hook. as long as the axis is on the same height as the paracord, this works really well.

That weapon looks terrible. You can hunt big game with that one. A repeating system would be great.
And that Gemini slingshot looks fantastic. I had the same idea but if i had to make one it will look like crap compared to yours.

Have used my own band dimension calculator now, entered a 25mm steel ball that weighs the same as one of these knives...

This is 1,86 times more rubber than I used for the video... about 75 lbs of a draw. This brings the simple wooden construction to a limit. But the energy of the knives now exceeds 100 ft-lb for sure. Downright scary. Ricochets are super dangerous. Don't do this at home.

I just don't want to see you guys hurt. I tested the weapon from longer distances, and one of the 20 m shots hit a knife that was already in the board... it ricochetted... the knife was bent and looked like a hook, but it almost hit me. It was still super fast.
