Many of my fans asked me to shoot paintballs. Well, I finally bought some and tested them!

You have to pinch the pouch in front of the paintballs and not apply too much pressure to the balls directly, but then you can even shoot them from a strong band set.

But with a thin, extremely tapered bandset (TBG, one layer, 5 cm (fork) and 1 cm (pouch)), I was able to shoot a paintball at 102,5 m/s (336 fps). That is 60% above the "legal" max speed for German paintball tournaments, and still 12% above the highest "international" limit.

The video shows the shattering of such a "fastpaintball" in slow motion.

Enjoy!

    Hi Joerg,
When i saw it i thought instead of a normal pouch one made of Kydex will be more apropriate to shoot paintballs. Don' t you think?
Cheers.

Kydex pouches are kind of painful when you get a handslap, plus they aren't needed for painballs. I found all you have to do is to pinch the pouch leather in front of the balls, then they won't burst at all.

    You probably right.
That would be cool to make two teams and use paintball slingshots. with special clothes, helmets, etc.. safety first of course.
I will try those paintballs some day.

I would like a hard pouch as I have shot these before, and being gentle with paintballs while dodging shots and running through the bush is tough :s also for the ease of having " one in the chamber " so to speak.

So what I took from this video is that there is a way to determine based on weight exactly how long and how much taper is required and on what type of bands? Something more precise than the band calc and with other colors of thera band? I want the variables

Yesterrday a frind of mine and me met in the forrest to check out if it is possible to play GOTCHA! with slingshots. - it works really well. I don't know what this exactly means for my sparetime, but I think one or the other battle should be possible...

Actually I use paintballs as my primary ammo. I recently made a slingshot (natural wooden fork) and found that I could get paintballs for pretty cheap. My pouch is just part of an old belt and the paintballs are fun, easy to shoot (the only time they explode in my hand is if they hit the fork...I have quite a small fork), and better yet, easy to clean up. My physics teacher even allowed me and a couple friends to shoot it inside our classroom last week. Tons of fun.

Patrick
