good job, you make videos we can all learn from
i made a casted aluminum slingshot and came to that idea by one of your videos, so thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work

How did you melt the aluminum??????? I can't melt cans no matter how hot I get my forge, I see people do it on YouTube and it looks so easy it makes me feel like an idiot! I've gone through 10 lbs of charcoal and hooked my forge up to a leaf blower and it still won't melt right.

i just built a wood fire with a steel cup in the middle, feed the aluminium slowly in to the metal cup

Nice job on both the SS Crossbow and the video!

My wife wants to know how old you are?

If those bands are wearing out already, ever consider switching to tubes?

Yea 99.99% sure, and no magnets don't stick, they are just Arnold Palmer cans

Much more sophisticated Campbell! I would suggest that you research a cocking rope. I have faith that you will be able to make one work on that.

  10. thanks!
i have got an 80 lb self cocking pistol crossbow that i bought and i could copy the design?
it would be hard to make but it would look really cool!

    I watched tAoW's video and...well now I wanna cast some aluminium...... thanks guys... :D

EDIT: does the polystyrene just burn away? also there is a tool for cutting polystyrene that architects use for making models. it uses an electrically heated wire for supersmooth cuts

  13. yep the heat of the aluminium melts all of the polestireine in an instant and also you can use sand paper to smooth the mould
