You will have noted the patterns on the side cut I'm sure. Deeper in the thread on the SSF, Beanflip took the slab that he had made and ripped slices on the bandsaw and lay the slices edge up in the pan and reheated. The result is just as strong, thicker and has a more intricate pattern.
This is crazy good stuff.

Thank you so much for opening my mind up to all of this, tokSick.
I'm a scrounger at heart, so this is right up my alley.
Just one more way that this hobby gives more bang for the buck. What is cheaper than using a bottle that otherwise you pay to have removed?
@Flipgun--thanks for the great links! I got lost in the SSF thread, but have lots of ideas now that I found myself again
Once those recycling bins are on the curb, the contents are legally fair game (by law here)...
Now just to convince my sweetie that it wont hurt the oven.

I don' t go more than 175° celcius and there is no fumes or smell. That' s why my head is still on my neck. Other wise Lady tokSick will send that head of mine to Joerg for some ammo penetration tests.
Found a clearish vinegar jug, a dark blue laundry detergent bottle, and a very large light blue fabric softener bottle. Cleaned removed label, put them all into an electric convection oven with temp control.
Took about an hour of melting, flipping, pulling, twisting reheating until it was pretty well soft through. Slapped it into a box made of a pair of 2x4's screwed onto a board, and put it all into my vice leaving it under pressure to cool.
This gave me a block about 2 x 2 about 8 inches long. I then cut it in half with saw. One half I'm going to hold onto for knife scales, etc. The other half I'm in the process of working up into a PFS. Pictures tomorrow I hope
Overall this was great fun, and you can bet I'm saving all my scraps, to do this again asap.
