Joerg, would it make sense to combine the principle of the rope torsion spring and a draw length extension into the same weapon? Basically just the same thing but with rubber between the arms and the pouch instead of paracord.

I absolutely love the look of that shooter, and if I can't get my current project to work well, I may experiment with that.

No, of course not. If it would be that bad, I'd send it back immediately.

I recorded at 300 fps, which gives a better resolution (still not great).

The new camera is supposed to arrive next week.

It could work but you wouldn't get a multiplication of force, maybe just a minute or incremental increase in force. Since the whole point of a slingshot or bow is storage and release of stored kinetic energy you're basically just adding another medium of storage to the weapon. That new medium, in tandem with the previous, will be using the same amount of force you'd have used originally. Granted, the rubber will be far more efficient at returning that force as directed (through the projectile) but its effectiveness would then be limited by the less efficient rope springs.

I think the project stands as a wonderful example of pre-rubber means for lobbing projectiles. It can do the job. That said just a straight rubber-based device would be far more efficient, powerful, and accurate.

How about taking 20 layers of TB gold and twisting them in place of the twisted rope? May need a ratcheting mechanism to get a really heavy twist. Is there a limit to the increase in power after a certain number of twists? Will the TB twist have a faster return? There's your second episode of your new TV show, Joerg! har har har.....

Camera shot... Nice idea. As said above you could put a parachute on it that would make nice pictures. Maybe next time you will launch, mouses, cats, with parachutes. Why not humans launched with a giant catapult into water...

  16. Traditional slings can be a bit more effective then you all might think. I have a few of them, one of which flings rocks the size of my fist, and with a couple hours practice I was able to hit a stump in my backyard from about 40 feet away, though I have to say your device blows my old school sling clean out the water. on power, accuracy and sheer awesomeness.

David was a man. But the youngest. When he used the sling it was probably the equivalent of Mr. Spraves power if not better because of skill.

I had forgotten about this video. I really want to make one. but I can't trust my abilities and I know I will either hit my car or break a window.
