Hi toksick, I have the same problem with finishing stuff:)

That's pretty dark oak, is it that colour naturally?

Amazing wood and shape, tokSick. Very well done! Although oak is nearly bulletproof I would suggest to make a pull test on the forks - just to be sure....

Nice fork TokSick - I really like the design. Hrawk does come up with some nice ones. I agree with some others that are concerned about the narrow forks, just be sure to give it a good test and always wear your eye protection  I'd love to see it again when you get around to putting a finish on it. That oak looks really good.

Does everyone here has problems on finishing stuff?
I like it, Tok! It combines perfectly with the color of a magic rubber!!

    Thankz Jeremy.
It is comfortable to hold and i' ll make some test shots before aplying the varnish.

    Hi Be,
I made a pull test with almost all my weight and it didn' t break. I think i am safe. ;)

    hello Cez,
The color is because of the linseed oil.

That wood is pretty strong but i' ll use this slingshot for target shooting with a light set of bands( pobably tapered).

I still have 3 unfinished catties and a handle for a friend' s machette.

I' ve put one layer of linseed one it.

I think it would hold even with 2x2 TBG but i' use only one to be sure.

Can' t wait to try that rubber.

    Tankzz all for the comments.

Thank you Saderath. I had +- 10 shots with it yesterday and it is a good target shooter. It will probably support 2 bands per side but i' ll use only one as i don' t shoot for power anymore. Target shooting is more fun. ;)
I am aplying the varnish with paper towels now.

You chose a great shape and a great chunk of wood.
    Nice work combining the two.

    Nice work, Tok!

I too have a problem with finishing things... I can spot four unfinished weapons in my room just by turning my head.

    My usual finish:

    sanding to 80/water/oil/120/water/oil/320/water/oil/wax/car chrome polish

It get's nice and shiny + the wax fills any remaining rough places.

Tok, that thing is a freakin guntruck! I bet it'd hold triples but you are right about target being more fun! Great job.
