I bought a cheapo Marksman type slingshot from Ebay.

The band ripped after just half a dozen shot using 8mm steel balls. The pouch was big and a rubbish shape.

However I did like using the arm brace.

Is any one using a Barnett or similar. I want to use it as a base for a slingbow.

you cant really go wrong with a Barnet Black Widow, it's a good platform to build from too

Yes, the Black Widdow has a good name.

But to find one is not that hard.

If you want to get a small overview just search catapult or slingshot on ebay and you have a lot of cheap models to search .

Crossman Vortex VTS is pretty cool, and you can reverse the forks...

I've never handled the Barnet but I've heard great things about them. Saunders might make a decent one too.

The one that you build is best!

I'll dig out my Black Widow in the morning and get some pics up in the light of day, the only 'mod' I've done with mine is shorten the bands to give it a bit more power... it's a nice one to start out with I found. I had one as a teenager that got lost over the years and I re-bought one the summer before last- the start of my 'Slingshot Renaissance' lol

When I was a kid I made a cool wrist brace sling shot from a piece of 1/4" steel rod. I took less than an hour to bend it up and wrap the handle with cord & black electrical tape. It had the forks extended about a foot in front of the handle. It was very powerful but I wasn't very accurate with it and I seem to have lost track of it over the years.
