Hey,

this is my try to build a Moorhammer with Amaranth.
I did not only use it for scales, but for the entire Slingshot.

I knew that it would be hard to bring into shape but hell...i had no idea...it´s rough, strong...has long fibers...and all the Dremel did was burn it...so it was entirely rasped and filed into shape...took a lot of hours.

As an eyecather i laminated a remaining piece from the brass core cutout onto the back and shaped it into a palmswell.

Honestly filing brass is not harder than filing amaranth.

The finishing is pure fun tho. Only a few strokes with 600grit sandpaper and the surface is glass-hard. polished the palmswel until i could see myself with the dremel:)

2 days in the sun helped the color, because amaranth needs uv-rays to become even more red.
Unfortunately the sun made it a bit too dry and it cracked on one arm (again best proof that a metal core is perfect as a base for the rubberpower...so you don´t have to worry about wood getting weaker). I filled the crack with sawdust and epoxy of course but it the color did not really match. It s a bit darker. You can see the spot on the first picture.

Well, i´m still happy with the result since it ws my first time working with purple heart.

after that i oiled it, let it dry and sealed it with a few layers of wax.

Pics are not yet perfect...maybe i will take some additional ones sometime...

You made an unbelivable fantastic slingshot. Congratulation. Very very nice. Will you shoot with it? A fork hit would be a desaster. But perhaps this is the thrill with this kind of slingshots...?

That is an unbelievably beautiful slingshot, the nicest Hammerhead I have seen. It should be displayed in a museum. Great job, truly.

Thanks Guys, i´m really happy that you like my Slingshot.
Especially those kind words from you Jörg...such Compliments from the Hammer-Master-himself are the best medicine to keep on doing those beauties.

Thank you so much

No Lanuzzi, i´m not going to band it up. As you mentioned, the fear of hitting the fork is just to big...i only had one forkhit so far on a panther and i know what i did wrong, but i would never forgive myself it it happens with this one

WOW! Both those are works of art! The olive one has the most beautiful grain pattern I've ever seen. Truly a sculpture!!!
