I am considering spending a few weeks in the US, most likely this fall.

I feel I need to cover wrist brace slingshots and can't do that from Germany.

But also I would like to go into homemade guns. Of course I am not talking about your run-of-the-mill zip gun, but crazy contraptions that use plenty of plywood and rubber instead of springs.

Some ideas:

- a four shot .22 rifle that can fire each round individually, but also all at once (same principle as the two shot arrow crossbow).

- A triple mode slingshot crossbow that can shoot an arrow, a steel ball, and a .22 - all at once or individually

- A flechette shooter that fires .22 blank equipped exploding tips

- A .22 that is entirely made out of plywood. Of course it would not last many shots, but it should be good enough for five shots. That is the goal. The barrel would be studded with screws to keep the layers together, and wrapped with raw hide, applied wet and dried rock hard - like a native American tomahawk. The idea is that this weapon can be made from wood and rubber, no steel except the screws, and with just a battery drill as a tool. I don't know if it would work - but I think it will get many views even if it is a fail.

Such weapons are legal to be made at home in the US, as long as you make them just for your personal use. I will work with a US citizen of course, as I am not sure if that is legal for an alien too.

What do you guys think?

I think it is a great idea! maybe you could meet some builders there too and do some kind of interviews with them?

It all sounds interesting and unfortunately, as you said is illegal in
Germany, what a shame.

If you have the chance, (and it seems you have great
interest) I would do this immediately.

I hope you do not run out of ideas, concerning “legal” weapons.

I am sure a larger audience will pay attention to this type of weapons (your Videos)

I can only hope, that it will not attract the wrong people...

Joerg, you should do some experiments with shot gun primers used to propel air gun pellets, I have a friend who built an insert for a flair gun that held a BB gun barrel with a shot gun primer right behind it so when the flair gun was fired the primer would go off and shoot the pellet faster than any air gun i have ever seen. It was a .177 pellet and it went through a 2X4! as far building guns in the US depending on the state you still have to be really careful...

This is a great idea, and well timed also. The media here is trying very hard to show public support for banning guns here, true or exaggerated. Many people are looking outside of the gunpowder box for ideas about home defense and other related concerns.

The triple threat varmit gun sounds like all win. Small game doesn't stand a chance.

You might want to arrange for your ammo ahead of time, here in Colorado its kinda scarce (due to gun-ban scares in our politics right now) and kinda expensive.
Failed perception is when you have a gun, I have a slingshot and you think you are the only one that is armed.

I will most likely go to South Carolina again, one of the other states where gun rights are fully respected. But I will be in the US for at least a few weeks - maybe we should organize a slingshot weekend!

No... if a German citizem does something in other countries that would be illegal in Germany, German law will only be enforced if the act was illegal in that other country too.

http://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/stgb/__7.html

Robbing a bank in the US would therefore be prosecuted in Germany, as it is illegal in both countries.

But if I abide the US laws while I am in the US, that is no problem even after I return.

Publishing such things isn't illegal in Germany, with some exceptions (you can't teach people how to make bombs, for example). But if I show how I made a gun while I was in the US, nothing will happen.

I'm looking forward to that videos. I'd like to see your ideas for arm braces.
