    Yellow <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br>OK, it is time to stop bugging in other peoples topics and to start my own <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br><br>First things first: my name is Rafal, I live in Poland (Cracow to be more specific) and I am a different type of a &ndash;holic:<br>- first and mainly a knife-o-holic;<br>- then airguns-holic;<br>- watch-holic (from watches, not watching <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" longdesc="15"> );<br>- and in July 2011 I think I fell again in slingshots <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br><br>I don&rsquo;t make many slingshots and they are not a showpiece type so there is no need to make a topic for every slingshot I make.<br><br>First is my truly first after maybe 20 years and my last slingshot made by my Grandfather <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br>Wild cherry branch cut down during a peeeeeee stop (remember kids: always carry your knife with you <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" longdesc="15"> ), banded up with football inner tube:<br><img src="http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/3392/img0688ak.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><a target="_blank" href="http://theslingshotforum.forumotion.com/viewimage.forum?u=http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/286/p102p.jpg"><img src="http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/286/p102p.th.jpg" alt=""></a> <a target="_blank" href="http://theslingshotforum.forumotion.com/viewimage.forum?u=http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/4903/p103s.jpg"><img src="http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/4903/p103s.th.jpg" alt=""></a><br><br>It gave me a lot of joy but the band snapped very quick and I started to look after some serious slingshot making materials. <br><br>Very soon I&rsquo;ve got TBG, an oak fork (sorry for the rough finish) and I started to experiment with different band widths and lengths. Didn&rsquo;t like it thou and sold it:<br><a target="_blank" href="http://theslingshotforum.forumotion.com/viewimage.forum?u=http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/29/p302n.jpg"><img src="http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/29/p302n.th.jpg" alt=""></a> <a target="_blank" href="http://theslingshotforum.forumotion.com/viewimage.forum?u=http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/299/p301.jpg"><img src="http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/299/p301.th.jpg" alt=""></a> <a target="_blank" href="http://theslingshotforum.forumotion.com/viewimage.forum?u=http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1761/p303.jpg"><img src="http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1761/p303.th.jpg" alt=""></a><br><br>Somewhere in between I&rsquo;ve made this ugly natural to experiment with different ammo (cherry wood + TBG 200x25x20 + kangaroo pouch):<br><img src="http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/9867/p501.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br>but I had a nasty accident with this fork: one of the bands snapped, the frame slipped from my palm and hit me in the lower lip &ndash; after 6 weeks I can still feel the scar inside my mouth.     Rafal, cool pics. I wish I would have kept my childhood frames!<br><br>We drove through Cracow this summer when we were visiting My wife's parents in Kovel/Ukraine, and I remember the journey was very fast until we reached Cracow. From then on, no more Autobahn, just highways. <br><br>In Radom, the cops stopped me in the middle of the night, gave me a huge ticket even though I was NOT speeding and they weren't even on my side of the road. Well, I guess you can call that a tax for the Germans <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br><br>Other than that, Poland seemed much like Germany. Same houses, same retail chains, same cars. Just a different language on the street signs!<br><br>That changed when we crossed the border into Ukraine. First thing I noticed is that there was horse shit on the left lane in the Autobahn... so a horse cart must have overturned an even slower vehicle. Go figure.

But I started to shape it with the knife and sandpapers and it was a pretty easy and quick job.     Hello<br>Me again <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br>I need something light small and sturdy but lost somewhere my sheath of 4mm carbon <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" longdesc="15"> I have found that piece of hazelnut (don&rsquo;t mind the bone; its time will come) in a public park and thought that it could do the trick <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br>I have used only the knife to shape it a bit (left the original surface) than red ink with some mahogany color (it is a lot brighter than on that pictures) and an experimental coating (epoxy glue diluted with an alcohol &ndash; not enough alcohol and it didn&rsquo;t soaked the wood as I hoped for).<br><img src="http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/549/p800z.jpg" border="0" alt=""><br><br>Banded up with TBG 25x20x230mm.     Cute kid <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"><br><br>If you are short on cash buddy nature will provide you with the tools <br><br>A vice for example can be made with large dead tree trunk or movable boulder.<br><br>You don't need to buy the expensive steel handles for saws as well just buy a single saw blade and find 3 pieces of straight wood and find some string i rummaged through an abandoned green house plot and found loads of abandoned tools including a steel saw rusted but still usable among other things.<br><br>This guy is using the type of saw im talking about and a work bench can be made with a similar technique<br><br><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Fz545pHk4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Fz545pHk4</a><br><br>Thanks for the pics and nice work with the cats hope to see more soon <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png" alt="cheers" longdesc="28">
