Slingshots , here in Mexico, are somewhat ubiquitous. People don't have a lot of money ( average monthly salary is about $400 US) and still want to hunt, and/or do pest control, and even .22 shorts are an unwanted expense. Slingshots and air guns ( for the more upscale) are the rule.<br>Many live on some kind of ranch or farm and need slingshots because they are economical, and can be made from materials readily available.<br>They are sold everywhere, and in all sizes and types. I have even seen tiny ones meant for children 3 and under.
