I know this is not a slingshot but I thought I would share it because I thinks it's really damn awesome this is based on the hidden blade from assassins creed 4 and I still need to paint it! It has a switch on the underside where your arm goes and you can control how long you want the blade to be the options are 1 tier and a 2 tier blade. That's pretty awesome that you can even do that out of wood. It looks like you used CNC machines to make all the pieces. The woodwork itself is incredible and I can't wait to see the real deal

Yes put a piece of spring steel on the bottom so that it faces up towards the blade and then add some type of lump to the underside of the blade so that it will get caught on the spring steel and then just add a string and ring to your finger and tie it to the steel spring tab so that when you pull your hand back it disengages the catch and allows it to retract
