It's acacia with an endcap of what I was told to be wenge and a strand woven Eucalyptus palmswell. Finish is ploly over raw linseed oil.

Thanks guys! I drew a design but the wood and the sander decided on something much better;), quite nice of them.

Mr. Arturo, thanks, It felt like making a sculpture in a way. I glued everything up then shaped it with my spindle sander until it fit like a glove. It turned out nothing like the drawings I made but it feels like it was born in my hand.

Be, I was thinking it may not be wenge. Does anyone think they know what it is? It was super hard, made toxic smelling smoke, and had the kind of resin that makes me think it is African.

Everyone else, thanks for the kind words!

Very nice one, like the pattern of the wood. And also like your spindle sander, makes working on a slingshot much easier...:D

...It turned out nothing like the drawings I made... :)

I can't tell you how often that happens. Wood has its own ideas about what it is supposed to be sometimes.

Tysonspapa, you have to try the poly, it's quite forgiving and the results speak for themselves!
well I took it for a test drive tonight after having a few and I got caught out not paying full attention. I was looking at the slingy not focusing on the target and...Whack!, fork hit:eek:. Looks like I get to exercise my skill with the poly. On the bright side the damn thing is a tack driver!

Etrain, I have to give credit where it's due, I got the assclownery part from none other than self defense/firearms training guru and all around badass Rob Pincus. A true technician of manliness who teaches not only how to kill the person that's trying to kill you, but also how to insult them with style before you send 'em to the abyss ;). He also has a badass tactical beard:cool:.
