This time, I want to address paper planes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_plane

Those little buggers are really fun to play with. cool, i used to do that with very small planes and nails as a tip, very dangerous and i could throw those things like 50 meters from the balcony

With a slingshot, you can easily quadruple the speed+range.

This might be the easiest way to make a deadly arrow.

Try folding one up with thin alum. or tin sheet metal......mmuhahaha!!! No paper clip required!!! It'll slice and dice big time. I see fruit salad coming!!!

  8.
Epic looks nice.
possibly you could make a alum one joerg?
it would hit with more impact and fly faster?
you would probably need to make a slingshot crossbow for one!
oooo and also the paper planes can slot inside each other so that could possibly help for making a slingshot crossbow with a mag!!!

I love making slingshots and slingshot crossbows
check out my youtube channel here for more!

are you using a special airplane model for that? the current distance world record holder is an "SCS Nakamura Lock" model, google will provide you lots of instructions. Another possibility might be the "Paperang".

I have now played further with the idea. Made a hook from a nail, and quickly found out that a full size paper plane is overkill - I simply cut off the back. Also I fold it one more time than as usual for regular paper planes, to make it more sleek.

It shoots well! A home made flechette really. The whole "arrow" weighs 10 gramms.

Then I used a much bigger nail and welded a hook on (can't bend these nails well). This one needs two sheets of paper and a full size plane in order to work, but then it is mighty powerful. 38 gramms total.

The planes hold for about ten shots, then you need to replace them. But the first shot is always the most powerful one, simply because then the paper is still very stiff. Every hit softens the paper, slowing down the flight.

Cool! How do you hold them, in the "tail" or in the hook?

I hold them on the hook, with the thumb behind the "leg" and the index finger on the nail "shaft". If you hold them on the tail, the tips will be aligned slightly upwards - probably not a problem really, but it feels funny.
