Has any one else tried painting their balls. Lead balls I mean. I've worked with lead a lot over the years, mostly firearm cartridge reloading, and I have a healthy concern for the cumulative effects of lead. So I thought I might paint some lead balls that I cast from a Lee .60 cal ball mold. I painted about 50 balls laid out on a board. I started with white metal primer then florescent yellow, then a stripe of florescent orange, then I sealed it with a couple of coats of clear polyurethane. They have a nice tracer effect. The paint seems to be holding up well. I've been shooting them at my carpet & clothe target back stop where they bounce/fall onto gravel. None have chipped yet except the one that hit a log and knocked off a piece of the lead. I also carried 8 of them in my pocket all afternoon and none of the paint came off. They're also much easier to find in the weeds and leaves.
