Oldtimer Slingshot

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by Drachentoeter, Jun 17, 2013.

  1. Yesterday i was on a jumble sail!

I found a Wham-o Sportsman in the original package!

It is in a very good condition.

There were still the original rubberband and the original, pouch, Target, description and the arrow rest in the package!
    The rubberband is broken!

I think the Slingshot is about 40 to 50 years old!

    Now a question.

Who has such vintage Slingshots and use them for shooting?

Or did they lay it in the glass cabinet!

Wow that looks like one of our modern plywood Slingshots and amazing that 50 years ago the Slingshots have enough power to shoot Arrows :D
Unfortunately I do not collect old slingshots but it would be great when you make a comparison between the old Rubbers and new Thera bands.
I have a Pictures attached, so the people can see as the jewel looks like.

well i just had to google it, but thay look solid.
I would probably lay it in a glass cabinet too.
I like the way the bands are attached to the fork... need to try that.

  5. Here are the pictures of it!

  6. The target unused!

It was the strongest Slingshot that could be buyed!

Only the balls are not at the package!

This is the slingshot I first used when I was a boy! My grandfather had one, and he used to trace it out onto boards to cut out 'copies.' This really takes me back to the good old days. Great find!

I own a used one, I have shot it with reproduction gum rubber bands from Flatband. It shoots nicely and the gum rubber is a little too strong for 1/2", 9/16", and 5/8" glass but works well with 1/2" lead. Nice fork and my first boardcut is a Wham-O Sportsman with shorter forks and a slight flare at the base of the handle.

Mine didn't come with bands or the arrow rest, I tried making my own from some stiff wire from JoAnn's, but it didn't turn out.

In short, not a bad fork at all.

PS: That catalog looks like an active nerd's dream. Slingshots, crossbows, fencing foils, blowguns! :)

Yeah, that's a Shelf Queen for sure!!! All the packaging and the unused target are a big part of the value to a collector. Heck of a score. One would think it'd be found in the States not Germany, go figure! :D
Package it back up carefully and keep it out of the sun!
Are you going to sell it?

  13. In germany and in our town there were a lot of us soldiers, so it could be that it come to us over these persons.

Of course it is a us packaging!

It costs about 1.50 dollars when it was sold!

    I do not sell it!

I am happy that i found it!
