There is a new slingshot forum now, this time it is all about hunting.

As you may know, I don't hunt, for a number of reasons - basically because I don't enjoy it, and it is illegal here too. But I do not frown upon hunters at all, it must be done, and it puts food on the table.

So if anyone want to try the new place, here is the link:

http://slingshothunting.freeforums.org/

I have no idea who is behind this, though. Still I thought you may wanna know.

I,ve watched the vids too , and i kinda agree with Tobias. At one part he tells us that he/we need to shoot for 10 minutes to get in to it and get more acurate shooting. For me that is true but i just cant imagine a animal to wait and stay still for a hunter "to get into it"

And i dont agree when he say,s that flatbands are not powerfull enough for hunting , I,m sure he never seen the power that Joerg and Tobias (and many others) get out of flatbands

But i,m sure he means well

All the best.

I started out with heavy tubes, too, and still use them for powerful crossbows. They last a long time, and for stirrup equipped crossbows shooting heavy ammo they work very well.

For handheld slingshots, their performance is lousy in comparison with flat bands.

As a starter (only 5000+ shots) I find very odd the movement he does when releasing the ball, I try to do as Bill Hays teach in his tutorial (vertical and anchor point just above my shoulder, (40" draw aprox), I also tried a butterfly style (very powerful shots) but my accuracy is horrid. I also did Jeorg's "chicken" test with 11mm steel balls (5.43 gramms) with my flat bands and found that the penetration was pretty good, (or enough to take a rabbit), with 16mm steel ammo it would be better ?? ...

I am not much into hunting but because I live in a rural area I find my new found sport is great for rat control. After about 6 months in this sport I am sold on flat bands, even though they don't last as long as tubes (I do have a few slings with tubes) I get way better performance from flat bands. By using different widths, different strengths, tapering, and multiple layers of thera-band I can really fine tune what I want to use the slingshot for. I find it hard to get the same control with tubes.

Joerg, thank you for the link to the new slingshot hunting forum.

Yes, it will be strictly slingshot hunting.

Slingshots, in general, has a very small market for potential members.

And slingshot hunting, in particular, would have only a very small fraction of that number for potential membership.

We know a slingshot hunting forum will grow very, very slowly because slingshot hunting is just not something that very many people participate in.

However, we still wanted to create "the" place where those interested in hunting with a slingshot can come and dialogue with other like-minded slingshot enthusiasts.

It is not for everyone, as you said. But if any members of your forum would like to check us out, we welcome them.

Again, thank you for the link to the forum.

slingshothunting.freeforums.org

Joerg, there has been discussion at slingshothunting.freeforums.org of making a through-the-fork tube shooter out of Theraband Silver tubes. I have never tried the TheraTubes tubes.

Is the Theratatube Silver the heaviest pull TheraTubes that are available?

  16. Thanks for posting the link to the slingshothunting forum, that is the main reason I got into slingshots was hunting and fishing applications. Can't beat their compact size for a survival situation.
