  1. how to cast an aluminium and oak slingshot + video - the art of weapons

    Hello
This is my new cast aluminium and oak slingshot!
I had to make a larger forge to melt all of the alm down in but it was worth it!
the casting method used was lost foam casting!
It took about 20 hours to make and that is probably the longest I have ever spent on a slingshot!
I polished the frame up to mirror finish and that took a really long time without a buffing wheel
I hope that you like it
    Enjoy!

Great looking Catapult. Your getting better and better.

Just as an idea, no criticism (!), if i´d spend so many hours on a slingshot, i won´t use plywood for the scales.
Those little bit of extra money for ebony for example (which is also easier to keep clean because it´s darker) would have upgraded the overall look without extra work.

  4. thanks!
my arms are a bit sore after all of the filing and rasping for this one!

Fantastic work! Your arms must have been ready to fall off after polishing for long enough to achieve that shine! I am looking forward to the tutorial as well!

    That just looks amazing.

My favorite ss is also my heaviest one. I bet this one has a nice heft to it.

    Sweet work.

Wow, I like it a lot, especially because I know you casted the aluminum.
20 Hours of work, man I definitely can see every second of work in it. Very nice one!

Wow! that is amazing, your effort really paid off nicely, can't wait to see the vid!

  17. thanks guys!
for the casting i used a larger graphite super conductive crucible that i had bought off the internet for £10!
it worked much better than the steel tint that always got holes in them!
also i tried to temper a file in the larger forge (for a knife) but somehow after about 10 in the forge when i took it out the end was glowing yellow and and the long part that attaches into the handle of the file had melted off!?
i didnt know that i could melt steel!!!!
also xXdoomXx it is a solid shooter that shot really well and it is really comfortable to hold! ~:)
