You have done a great job on this! I am very impressed by the symmetry of the shaping, it is nearly exact! Very nice work, let us know how it shoots for you

For I am a newby it shoots awesome, those 10mm steelballs are violent!..

Concerning symmetry: the fork is, not the handle; tried to shape it slightly ergonomically to fit my left hand..

    Hi Häcksler,

yes, I am a total newby (regarding a 25 year break)
I grew up at the lake of Constance, near Friedrichshafen.
Last time I remember was shooting pebbles at a telephone-pole
with a bicycle inner-tube powered natural fork slingshot..

But thanks to getting knowledge of what Jörg does, its inevitable
that I go to my in-house shop and build slings.

For its real double pleasure to me!- The construction to relax and then
that anti-aging shooting- I love it, kind of

Looks good! I used to build stuff that had little purpose. But those skills translated into making things that do things and I like it a lot better.

The bands are actually Saunders Black Mamba Stryker, i got it from Kugel-Winnie (Jörg mentioned him):
    http://www.kugel-winnie.de/epages/62136757.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62136757/Products/110102013
But I didn´t manage to recall all that he told me, therefor I don´t know about the ideal weight of the projectile.
I improvised a catchbox with a cardboard-box: two layers of paper (target sketched on that) an old towell hanging down right in the middle of the box, then a layer of corc (5mm) an finally the double-layer cardboard bottom of the box (each consisting of two layers of CB)
Guess what: I wonder how the 10mm steel ball passes through the towel like nothing,
and of course all through the rest.
-- Next little project will definitely be to build a catchbox! A very smelly piece of 5mm PVC from a tyre-recycling firm and also a mat of rubber-chuff will absorb a lot of energy, I guess.

Can anyone help with background/ construction basics/ link to an older thread?

Beautiful! I'm really loving the wood (natural?) slingshots I'm seeing on here.

Very nice work Be. I have yet to try a multiplex, though I've got a fun little project in the works at the moment. I guess I need to add a MoorHammer to my list of items to make. It would appear that this design is the true initiation into the world of Joerg!

I love the moorhammer, absolutely beautiful work. I need to pick up some quality multiplex and try my hand at making something.

I see your question mark next to 'natural'. I know you had asked in your introduction about terms and I'm continuing to learn some myself. So, if you're wondering about the term, "natural" refers to slingshots made from naturally occurring forks, such as those found in a tree or large shrub and are sometimes called tree forks. "Board Cuts" would refer to a slingshot cut from a piece of wood, such as plywood or even a solid board and can also include materials other than wood, such as plastic. His slingshot here is a plywood board cut. And, if you're not already familiar with it, this is Joerg's Moorhammer design.
