For Christmas this year, my daughter contributed to my obsession by buying me some really interesting wood.

I decided to incorporate it into my ergambi design with a purpleheart core, purpleheart tips, and maple spacers. The purple vein in the poplar is faint, but complements the purpleheart accents well.

    I hope you like it!

Nice eye for grain and color. It looks like it's made from a few slices of the rings of Saturn.

Really nice. If you look at it a minute it looks like a cats mouth on the light color part with the handle part looking like something dripping off of the cat's chin. Well that is what I see:D No matter what you see it really looks good. Piece of art!

Beautiful work. Nice design, great patterns in the grain of the wood and I really like how you pieced this together. Great selection of colors.

That one really looks amazing generic perfectly done and such wonderful wood colors.

What have you used as a finish? Looks very shiny :)

Antraxx, Thanks for the compliment. I used 6 coats of tru-oil. It tended to darken the piece more than I expected.
