For everything we do in our lives, there is a funny part...and a boring part.
For example: Bone surgery! Cut skin, tear flesh, muscles, avoid tendons, nerves, vessels, put bone back in position, attach a plate and screws.....COOL!!!:D
    Sewing it all back again.......BORING:mad:

For slingshots, my boring part is making the bandset....holding rubber tight avoiding it to slip...or start it all over. So clumsy!!!
I decided to make a bandset clamp like that ones for sale on simpleshot.

In addition, I wanted to make a "signature" mark for my shooters.....like that burned target from AntraXx or that pawn from flicks....
I have a pyrographer to engrave it in the slings.
that's what I came up with:

    Very nice! :D

I think I also have to make a bandset clamp like that!

Really cool makers mark BV, That looks great.
A band jig make it so much easier, are the posts just glued on, or are they screwed from underneath as well?
I made myself one similar to gamekeeper johns with mini vices, best tool I've ever made myself.

5 Meters?! That is asking too much. I like your new Maker's Mark, that's awesome. I've been giving some thought to my own. I have to confess when I saw "Maker's Mark" on your thread title, I thought there would a bandset clamp and a refreshing beverage for a dedicated builder :p

That also makes me wonder - does anyone have a good suggestion for how you can take a maker's mark and get it made into an attachment say for a woodburner so you can burn it into the slingshot? Are there folks or companies out there that will turn a custom design into a branding iron of sorts?

There is heaps of places that will take your mark and make a wood burning attachment, it's just expensive. There's a guy on etsy that does it, when I get home I'll dig up his info, he also makes leather cutting dies. I'm thinking of getting one for stamping out pouches

    Nice as always!

    Hey BV,

a necessary contrapion for a slingshot-builder!- as soon as
I have some time, I will make one of those for myself, too!

Your makers mark is perfect!- For a viking
from brazil! :) - simple, individual and perfectly
communicating not only a makers mark but your
    slingalistic, sorry slingartistic name! ;)

    kind regards to Brazil
(and the rest of the world!)

For those that are interested I have dug this info out of my bookmarks on custom branding irons.

first off there is LWLeatherworks, an Etsy based seller. custom stamp and electric branding iron at a cost of approximately AUS$230 shipped. link to store HERE
then there is Branding Irons Unlimited, Independant store. Custom Brass Stamp only US$115 no details on shipping. Link to store HERE

there are others, but these are the only two that the links still worked

Thanks for that!- but I think slingshot artists have a realistic chance to
just build those on their own.. Dremels, molten metals.. :)
Even shaping one from copper, using brazing solder to mount it on a plate,
would allow to use it with moderate temperatures to burn wood..
I would have fun making one!..

Thinking about it, brazing solder could be used to cast one?... ;)

Thanks for posting that Obl1v1ous - I'll look into those.

I did think about something like that Be, but I also have to recognize my artistic limits when it comes to certain things. I've worked with brazing solder for installing copper tubing, but I don't think I have the proper skills to turn out a decent looking design in solder or any other metal for that matter. As it is, I'm sticking with digital media to try and develop a design just so it looks half decent. I wouldn't mind seeing your creative process if you do that yourself though.

I used to have that exact style but now I just use a clove hitch loop method to tie my bands quicker and easier

Realistically though Be I doubt any of us would be able to make something as complex as BV's mark into a brand, at least not those of us who work almost solely with wood. However I do agree that most people could make a nice brand like antrxx's if they were determined enough
