What did you make the blade from? Just a piece of steel or a file ?

    yer.... what steel?
low carbon steel cant be hardend. maybe it was allready hardened, anyway, now as you have glued the handle to the blade it is to late to harden it. you would need to put it in the fire and heat it up to 800 degrees. guess the handle wont survive that.

    Nice Knife!
If you want a hard sharp blade you can not use any steel.
Without hardening, you can also ask metal companies according broken saw blades.
Cut them with a Flex / cutting disc and grinding them cope. I still have a link who show the requirements from knife steels.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_blade_materials
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerstahl

Other than the blade, you may want to refine the handle so it's not so round, if you want. Round handles aren't as functional/practical as ones the have flatter sides. They don't spin in your hand like round does.

This is my first homemade knife. It's made out of a sawblade and therefore I didn't have to harden it, maybe that would be an option for you...

Pretty neat, love how you added the notch to the bottom, makes it look authentic.
