I decided to build my first slingshot. Never had one...until now and then it will also be selfmade.
After looking at a few designs here on the forum i designed something that I like quite a lot.
    Hopefully this is beginner-friendly.

After a few days of waiting for my bandsaw drivebelt it finally arrived and i went to the hardware store to grab a piece of mpx from the scrap-box.

    I found a nice piece with about 45 x 20cm 18mm birch-mpx.
Is 18mm enough for the middlepiece with the fork?

At home I first printed out my blueprint, transferred it to the wood and then I've sawn the pieces out, split the piece for the handles in half and glued each half to the main piece.

Now I'm waiting for it to dry.

    This thread wil be continued...

Looks good so far, 18mm is enough for everything you can draw by hand:D

Looks good so far, 18 mm won't crack, unless you try to hang an elephant on it

    I think I'm done.
As this was originally supposed to be a prototype for a more detailed build I think I don't need to rebuild this one...it turned out quite nice as it is.

    Here are some pictures:

    And oiled (with olive oil)

I tried to form the handle according to my left hand and now it actually fits pretty well. I have a good feel and a good grip! Cant wait to shoot it!

Now all I'm missing is a rotary cutter to cut my bands.
I'll try using my paper cutter with a rotary knife.

Tell me what you think :)

...and bands attached. dual theraband gold tapered from 25mm at fork to 20mm on pouch.
the pouch is 2mm thick cow leather.
draws very nice. I'm really looking forward to shooting it tomorrow! :)

I decided to make the same slingshot, and I drew some blueprints for it. If anyone is interested, here they are.

Wow. Good job with the blueprints!
I'm glad you like it. I shot it several times now and it it's very shoot able for beginners in my opinion.
